----------

Enough east Texas rain yesterday to soak in the fertilizer spread over the hay fields. Neighbor has been waiting for two weeks. This rain will help with the quality of the 2nd cutting of hay this season.

The garden is also soaked and with some sunshine today, ought to notice plants with a "perked up-stance." String beans have been sprouted on wet napkins for a week now and will be planted after this morning's post.

Basil will be harvested this morning too. The queen bee will be home making several jars of fresh pesto this morning. Basil leaves, minced garlic, pine nuts and olive oil. Add fresh Parmesan cheese if you plan to eat and not freeze.  Pro tip: blanche basil leaves to keep them bright green.

Yesterday, a homemade apple pie for in recognition of my having competed another year.

The simple things have won this past week here.

Yep, appreciate the visit. Hug someone this coming week and tell them that you love 'em!!
